...because fiction is our greatest escape from reality...

NEWS!!

There’s a reason I haven’t been sleeping well.

I’m going to share a quick story.  I issued a challenge on this blog and had two winners.  One gave me the Norse Gods at Starbucks challenge and one gave me this one.

“Write about someone finding a way to track down serial porn spammers and exacting revenge.”

Neither were into easy, were they???I didn’t know these Snark readers well, but wrote stories to both challenges.  They are in the tabs above.  Now They Run From Valen Greer, the porn spammer one, resulted in a critique partner.

Rachel Vincent  and I  work so well together.  We’re both ambitious, competitive (In a good way!) and we love to write above everything else.  It’s been a fantastic partnership.  (Be sure to order ROGUE!)

Now, this relationship has helped me get an agent.

Needless to say, the OKRWA mini-con went well for me.  <g>

The editor, Margo Lipschultz, showed interest and I really liked the agent we’d invited down.  Yes, she’s Rachel’s agent, Miriam Kriss of the Irene Goodman Literary Agency.  I sent Miriam an email on Sunday night telling her of the editor’s interest in my book.  She requested the manuscript and took it home Monday night and made an offer on Tuesday.

I also had another agent interested this week due to another good friend of mine in the group (Gena!!!) and let me tell you, I agonized over this for two long, sleepless nights.

Both agents are in my top FIVE so I never expected interest from more than one.

I would have agonized more, but started to worry I’d never sleep again.   In the end, I went with my gut.  While I really, really liked both and either would be fantastic agents for me, I had met Miriam over the weekend and just had that feeling.  Okay, and the fact that she loved Farscape certainly didn’t hurt.

And well, when she called, there was this certain response she had upon finishing Dweller on the Threshold…

This has been a whirlwind week of excitement with the most incredible validation.  I want every one of you to feel this!  Some of you have and some of you will! I’ll share what OKRWA member, Christine Rimmer, just said on our loop. “Keep the dream alive and keep moving toward it.”

So, I am announcing that I will soon be a happy client of Miriam Kriss from the Irene Goodman Literary Agency.

I’ll be sharing space with clients like Rachel Vincent, Vicki Pettersson, Keri Arthur, Karen Chance, Jenna Black, Lillith SaintCrow…

Okay.  My daughter just came into my office and asked me to stop doing the cabbage patch.  And she called me a dork.

I can see nothing is going to change much around here…

HOORAY! Rachel and I were talking about you a couple weeks ago, and she says your book is awesome so it has to be awesome because Rachel knows awesomeness. 🙂

    Welcome welcome and CONGRATULATIONS!!

    1) You will love working with Miriam—and not just because she loves Farscape.

    2) Vicki is her favorite, but it’s ok, there’s room for everyone. 😉

    3) Seriously, you now have the best agency sisters in the whole world.

  15. March 21, 2008

Wow, congrats! I’m glad all the hard work is paying off–bet you’re floating right now 😀

  19. March 21, 2008

Yay!!!! *Imagine fireworks exploding and various celebatory occurances.* I knew you could do it. All it took was to find an agent with impeccable tastes. 🙂 I’m so happy for you. 😀

Congratulations! That is so wonderful. Rachel has told me how hard you’ve been working and it has paid off! Welcome to the club!

Ha! That’s what I get for stepping away from my computer. Vicki comes over and spreads more vile rumors about her being Miriam’s favorite. But I spent all weekend with Miriam, and I believe she said, by virtue of not killing either of us on the highway, that I am her favorite. 😉

Though I’m sure Rinda will get close. 😉

    And yes, welcome aboard!

You’ve already heard my reaction but I’ll say it again: No one has put more sweat, blood and tears into a manuscript than you have the last two years. You deserve all this and more!

  23. March 21, 2008

    Yay. Minion Wars. (wg)

CJ and Sara, it’s Presidential Marguaritas next time!!

Jocelyn, it feels good when it does pay off, doesn’t it? 😉 I saw you have a nice, new website–love the green eyes!

Floating is a good description, Andrea. Thanks!

Renee, Patrick and Danne, thanks for the encouragement. It means a lot!

Okay, now I’m hoping you all freaking love the book when it sells.
