Grinding along here. Yesterday was one of those EXCELLENT writing days. Not only did a reader on Twitter tell me she was a big fan and couldn’t wait for my books, but I cleared 3059 words. And it wasn’t the number that made the day great, it was the content. This book took an exciting romantic turn. My CP, Rachel Vincent, called mid-afternoon and my first words were, “I just wrote the hottest scene!” And her response? “Are you still working on the YA?”
Very funny Rach, you’ve got some steam in that Soul Screamers series. 😉
Oh yes, I am working on the YA and while the scene I wrote wasn’t hot in the sense of a true erotic novel, it was steamy because of the chemistry–and the very heartfelt honesty from two kids in their late teens who had to become adults early and are discovering something new and exciting and Just. For. Them.
I love finding the perfect love interest for my protagonists–especially while they’re in the midst of an exciting and more than likely, highly dangerous situation. Life in the midst of chaos. So fun!
Foretold is like this–as is Forecast, book two in the Norse YA trilogy. I haven’t completed Forecast, (not wise until book one is picked up) but I’ve put it together and written a LOT of scenes and I’m looking forward to writing that book more than I look forward to my next cup of coffee. <g>
Writing Unnatural Selection has successfully taken away the frustration I was feeling over my other series. In fact, I’ve already started outlining the second book in this and I’m toying with the idea of telling it from a male point of view from this seriously cool character who appeared in US. But I won’t tease anymore.
Wait, yes I will. While I still have Ladytron, Android Lust and Nine Inch Nails in this book’s soundtrack, I’ve added the incredible soundtrack to the video game, Mirror’s Edge. I haven’t played this game but it will be my gift to me once I get a book contract. (Love parkour!!) I bought the soundtrack off Itunes and it has some excellent music for running scenes, fight scenes, contemplative scenes and yes, even the romantic scenes.
Here’s the Introduction which is more dreamy and slower than a lot of the soundtrack, but stick with it. The build is something else and then comes 3:22. (Play loud in earphones if you can.)

Also, this one starts out dreamy again, then wow–just blows you away. Gets the heart pumping! 😉

You guys have all been so very patient. I do appreciate the fan emails and comments–have one of the emails from a YA blogger who can’t wait for Foretold pinned over my desk. 🙂 I can only hope you love the books as much as you have the excerpts.
So, I’m here in the Unnatural Selection WIP.
Don’t forget to check out Rachel’s progress–she’s working on a finished first draft along with me. This support during the slam is priceless. 😉
