Long Post about T-shirts and a Thong

I keep typing up posts and these huge gusts of wind come through and knock the cable out. It is somewhat annoying.

I’ll get back to the posts about writing, but today, I thought I’d talk shop.

I’ve been buying blogads. Learning a lot about what kind of ad makes people click on it, that sort of thing. I installed stat meters so I can learn all sorts of info. I can see which shirts get looked at the most, etc.

I originally started the t-shirt shops because I’d made some for myself and my writer friends liked them. I expanded and started spending more time on them because around that time, my husband left a very lucrative business and well, I’m a writer. heh heh

So, once I got serious, I started buying advertising on blogs, etc. BTW, for those who want to advertise books, it’s an excellent and fairly cheap answer. I got over 300 clicks on Pandagon alone in a week.

But I’m still learning, so I obsessively check the stats. Today, I had a few hits from a site I didn’t pick, so I meandered over and read this.

silly shopping – things you find while looking for other thing– t-shirts and other things with snarky writing related comments for those who buy or wear such things.>>Bibliophile Bullpen It has a link to my Write Snark shop.

At first, I thought it was an insult. Then I saw it was under “Things worth a Looksee” and well, it’s free publicity. Cool beans.

But I did wonder about this “for those who buy or wear such things.”

I wear them. I’m a writer. I work at home. Alone. (Well, I’m supposed to be but the hubby is still hanging around here more often than not.) I don’t have to dress up for anyone and these are easy and comfortable and they make me smile. The sweatshirts are perfect for someone who ends up sitting like a contortionist half the day. I guess I’m one of those who would buy such a thing. I buy such things from others as well.

So, I’m going to share some of my favorites from the Net. These are all on my “to buy” list…
Excessively Diverted White T-Shirt > Short Sleeved > The Republic of Pemberley In fact, if you like Jane Austin, take the link back a time or two and look at all the choices. Nice.

Pinot Envy Value T-shirt > Pinot Envy > Vineyard Apparel & Gifts CafePress Hahahahaha. This cracks me up every time. A lot of nice designs in this shop.

Ringer T-shirt > The Write Store CafePress I just really like this one.

Says, “You, minion, are too saucy!” saucy minion White T-Shirt > saucy minion > bardwear CafePress Too cool.

“Red Shirt” Crowd Ash Grey T-Shirt > “Red Shirt” Crowd > STARTREK.COM Online S Because I’m a Trek fan. Says, “I feel like a red shirt in the Star Trek episode of life.

Klingon Romance Women’s Cap Sleeve T-Shirt > Klingon Romance > STARTREK.COM On Couldn’t leave this one out. So few of my friends get this… sigh…

“Got Wine?” T-shirts and more Jr. Raglan > “Got Wine?” T-shirts and more… > This is probably my favorite. It’s at the top of my list. They have it on a lot of shirt styles, too.

There are other t-shirt places I visit occasionally like HellaTees Catalog , T-Shirts Countdown Chart – Top T-Shirts Countdown Chart the t-shirts countdown , T-Shirt Expo Directory : Top Rated .

So, as one of those who buys and (cough,) makes such things, I’ve discounted a bunch of my own shirts for fun. Check them out.
The Write Snark : CafePress.com ,
Twisted Fanatics : CafePress.com ,
H.H.Gs : CafePress.com

The H.H.Gs was done for a good friend of mine who just became a grandmother. She’s just a few years older than me and incredibly beautiful. She’s a hot, happening grandmother so I made her a shirt to celebrate! A couple of people have asked her where she got it, so it’s now an open store.

Oh, and the Twisted Liberal shirt on the Fanatics site is probably my best seller. I discounted it because another very good friend… a non liberal friend… likes to call me this. But I know she loves me and means it in fun. So I made the shirt… Just to wear when we go out together…. I do “such” things… Can’t wait to see what shirt she’ll come up with in retaliation… Good times. Proof I wear them. We call this one “Dumb Ass who takes picture in mirror” or “Hey Dumb Ass, run away from the light!” I tried to take it facing me, but it was just boobs– no proof there. (wg)

Update: Ignore the makeup above– not a Tammy Faye moment, just an experiment because of new glasses. Looks weird. But anyway… the update is about Cafe Press. It seems I find a new author going onto Cafe Press daily. And now, for your viewing pleasure… a Brian Keene thong.

The Rising Classic Thong > Brian Keene Merchandise CafePress Found this on his blog. I enjoy both of his blogs because he’s straight to the point and honest. Two things I like in a man. I withhold judment on the “Rising Classic” thong issue…

    I need that shirt.

You still look like Hannah Montana. Or maybe it’s the other way around…

  2. March 30, 2006

Okay, I have to find out who this Hannah is…

Which shirt caught your eye? The one you can’t read in the picture of me? (g)

  3. March 30, 2006

Are you talking about the thirteen year old girl who is on the Disney Channel? Cool. Only I’m far away from 13. She looks a lot like I did at thirteen– only I was a lot taller and even skinnier. Being nearly six feet by the age of twelve made me stand out a bit. heh heh

I may have to change the profile pic up at the top. My husband hates it, says I look like a smart ass. But you should see the one he picked for me to use! My daughter jumped in, doctored the pictures and left her choices. They’re all brats.

  4. March 30, 2006

Is skinnier a word? Time for a break.

  5. March 30, 2006

I’m not going to admit how long I’ve been trying to read what that mirrored shirt says. Nope, not gonna.

    I’m calm, cool, and…

  6. March 30, 2006

I have to buy that Klingon shirt.

  7. March 30, 2006

I love the Klingon shirt and I don’t wear t-shirts that much any more.

With all the hits you’re getting on your site, I hope they’re translating to sales.

I Lifted your “HELP” desk from your shop and posted it on my recent blog post. I hyperlinked it to the store so anyone who clicks on it will go there. Then at the end of the post, I told them to click on the picture. Sort of fun.

  8. March 30, 2006

You’re only allowed to bother me if there’s blood, fire, or coffee. I love wearing that shirt.

Betty. How cool. Thanks! I haven’t tried figuring out the link with picture yet.

That “help” desk was a request from my sister who is a lawyer who works for our father. I used to be in charge of that office so I knew exactly what to draw…

I’m not much of an artist–can do cartoony stuff. I can do a little better anime style drawing by hand, but I don’t have a great art software program. I use Windows Paint.

I love that freaking Klingon shirt. Gotta have it.

  9. March 30, 2006

Oh and Jenna, that last post of yours was a riot. Enjoyed it!

  10. March 31, 2006

Rinda, regarding your picture here, just tell the hubby that you know your ass is smart. I do when people call me a smartass. 😉

And yes, the picture I’m talking about is the one of you in the mirror. I so need that shirt. (going to see how much slush fundage I have today)

Oh, and yes, I thought Hannah looks like you would have if you were 13. You did say you were a skinny minny. 😉 Isn’t she beautiful? (you are too)

  11. March 31, 2006

When you’ve added the picture, click on it so you get those lines and little squares framing it. Then click on the hyperlink symbol. Add the link you want it to take you to, and you’re done.

Believe me. If I can do it, anyone can.

  12. March 31, 2006

The one he doesn’t like is the profile picture.

I’ll have to rustle up a picture of me at 13. You all will laugh. I was five foot ten and weighed around 110 pounds. Strangers gave me food. My ninth grade science teacher told me to drink beer.

Thanks Betty. I never took the time to look up how. It’ll clean up my posts.

  13. April 1, 2006

All these shirts are great, Rinda.

Betty – I have to clean up around the computer so you can come over and clean up my blog ; )

  14. April 1, 2006

They aren’t my designs– just other people’s designs I want to buy. (g)

Betty’s wonderful, isn’t she? One of the lovliest friends I have.

  15. April 1, 2006

Loveliest. See? I can’t spell anymore. Brain is going…
