...because fiction is our greatest escape from reality...

Neat Stumbles & SFAP

I’m a member of Stumble Upon. I don’t use it for networking or chatting because I have this blog for that sort of thing. Have Myspace, too, but yeah, that place still kind of gets on my nerves. For some reason, 14 year-old boys hit me up for friendship daily. Lots of them.  Not sure about that.

I just keep a Stumble Upon account to keep in touch with some artist friends of mine. But the other night, I needed a break and went stumbling. It’s pretty cool. You load the button in your toolbar and just click. It takes you to sites that other stumblers have enjoyed. There are so many creative and visually stunning sites out there!

Here are some fun ones.

There are a lot of sites with free online books. At first, I sweated that a bit. Writers would be out of business if we couldn’t earn a living. But, though I haven’t spent a lot of time searching, it looks like classics mostly–probably from authors that can no longer benefit from sales. Here are two.:)

This is a cool site. You type in a book and author and get recommended reads. http://www.whatshouldireadnext.com/

I entered Stray by Rachel Vincent and got these!

Visually stunning! Imagine doing all that work on something that doesn’t last.

And for those stumped for story ideas…

And yes, it’s the fifteenth and we didn’t have any SFAP entries for the Ice Man. No worries–not all pictures will spark interest and we are all very busy right now. But, here is the next image for our writing inspiration. See this page for details!

Stumple Upon is so addictive! I once spent an entire 3 hour period just stumbling around. I have so many bookmarks now, I just don’t know where to start!

Love the tree picture. It’s creep, intriguing and part of me could stare at it most of the day. Reminds me of an octopus in a way.

Btw, I have mySpace too. It’s amazing the nuts that want to be your ‘friend’. ACK! Just say NO!

    Oooh, love the new pic.

And I’ve never even heard of Stumble upon. Thanks for sharing. 🙂

Okay, must say that Stumble Upon is a procrastinator’s dream… Not such a good thing. 😉

Thanks for the great links. My husband listens to audio books on his way to and from work (1.5 hrs each way) so finding some free ones is great. And the creative writing prompts may just help me find my writing spark again.

Oh, that’s a rough commute. We had to commute like that before and it’s difficult! Having said that, maybe if audiobooks had been more accessible then… heh heh
