I promise to get back to some serious writing posts. I’m in a goofy mood this week as you could probably tell from the last post. I do have a blast with my writer friends and I’m suffering a bit from summer fever.
I am, however, fed up with my cable modem or the cable or whatever it is that has me typing up blogs three or four times since the stupid thing resets constantly!!!!! Actually, it isn’t the modem since half our channels don’t work either. But I’ve had them out over and over and no success in repairing the problem. As you can guess, I’m not on the Internet much these days– which is probably good for my writing.
There are a few places for a good chuckle today:
I love it when the Smart Bitches do cover snark. Smart Bitches, Trashy Books
I have this guilty pleasure blog. It by turns cracks me up and worries me about the future of the human race. This man works the return desk at Walmart and he pulls no punches. Behind the Counter
And does anyone really believe this is Depp? (For Chrystal) www.myspace.com/johnnyfuckingdepp You know, with him… who knows?
And Mel Odom started a blog! Mel Odom is a local author and a brave, brave man who agreed to be our guest at OKRWA’s annual writer’s retreat in September. Last year, we had Linda Howard (who btw, is wonderful, fun and her need for coffee drags her too-happy-in-the-morning-self into the kitchen before dawn (g) ). As for Mel… This used to be the no make-up weekend writer’s retreat, but I suspect we don’t want to scare the poor man away or worse, put a blip into his killer writing schedule. Over 100 published books!!! Adventures In Writing The blog. Check out his publications here. http://www.melodom.net/ I had trouble getting the bibliography page to load, but here’s another. Whoa. Mel Odom
We also have this mouthy piece on super hero powers. ( See my little ad to the right? ) Awesome Super-Powers (And Why You Don’t Want Them) :: CRACKED.com :: The Comed
And Lyn is showing us her intelligent, witty, and uh, revealing side in this funny about fluffy toilets. Lyn’s Licks & Laughs The Stance. Heh heh
Speaking of my friend, Lyn, she has a new book out!!! Leaving Mama is a Bobbie Cole (just call her Sybil — I do) book, it’s mainstream fiction and I’m reading it now. Be prepared to laugh. Since Blogger won’t let me post a pic, here’s the blurb:
Smoking weed while perched on top of her grandmother’s coffin in the middle of a downpour was not how Jillian had seen the trip from Oklahoma to Minnesota as happening. With flights canceled and the airline employees striking, she had no choice but to improvise and use her rock band’s hearse. And when Gran exits the hearse after the tires skid on a rain slick highway and the back door flies open, Jillian decides to make the best of the moment.Things only get worse when they arrive in Minnesota and her oldest sister, Shari, has a stroke at the memorial service. Toss in the fact that their grandmother had led two lives—there was a whole other family they’d known nothing about waiting for them in Minnesota—and life suddenly becomes more complicated.
