Atomica has given me hope.
This is a must have CD.
S’cuse me, while I gush.
I bought it on a whim, slipped it in the player and just sat back and closed my eyes. It’s the perfect music for a relaxing or even romantic evening. Subtle, down-tempo beats and songs that manage to be evocative, lush and powerful. The lead vocals are simply stunning.
The first song, One Day in New York City, actually made me tear up during these lyrics:
calling out
can you hear me?
there’s no response
so alone
can you not feel me recovering
I will separate and become strong again
but won’t ever forget how this feels
You have to listen to understand. In fact, this section is the clip on Itunes. If you have Itunes, a little trip is worth your time.
Don’t get me wrong, this CD is not depressing in the least–like I said, just evocative.
You can hear one of my other favorites entirely on their website under audio. It’s called Delorian. Oh, and the video to Delorian is on their Myspace.
I will be following this band. They renewed my hopes in my favorite music genre–Trip Hop. 🙂
