I swear I’m still alive and kicking. This has just been a busy week– but a good one since my hard work will pay off. I slammed on the paying job as well as the hopefully, last round of rewrites on the book. (I gave up sleep several nights <g>.)
I have three chapters to finish going over, critiques to get back on them which will inevitably start up another round <g> and then I’m going to target several agents at one time. (Right now, my entire weekend is set up to get my book done and a new round of submissions to the agents out!!)
I also managed to get pretty close to finishing up all the critiques for Rach. She’s such a peach. She could possibly be getting her feathers ruffled on some of my comments, but she always treats my suggestions or ideas with such respect. Whether she uses them or not—the way it should be.
She also did one of my chapters and pointed out that I had left out the reason my main characters were fighting some kids. (You guys saw a bit of that scene.) Jeez. It amazes me that I can go over and over a section and still miss something that obvious.
Another thing I do is jump into a reaction before I’ve properly explained the reason for that reaction. I Do This A Lot. She’s soooo good at catching that annoying habit of mine.
I’m one of those writers who thinks going over a nearly four hundred page novel alone is just plain silly. Of course, a writer will miss something. Okay, okay… yeah, I know there are writers who never use CPs. I’d like to be that good, but I’m just not observant enough, I suppose. And it doesn’t really bother me. J
Because I love having someone to check over my sometimes sloppy work and I really love working with someone who likes this weird fiction and thinks the best kind of Friday night is spent working and bouncing ideas off each other.
