This is my favorite flower. Love the lily–especially this color.
Don’t know if my readers noticed the lulls the past few months here. I go back and forth on what to reveal on this thing, but I did start with the intention of sharing one writer’s life. That includes some of the ups and downs, eh?
Besides taking on a side job, I’ve also been dealing with metabolism issues. Seems my Graves has finally tired out the poor thyroid. Coping with my busy schedule without a working metabolism has been a chore. Docs figured out this past week that my meds weren’t doing the job, so I started some new stuff. Seems finding the right combo for hypothyroids can be tricky.
The interesting thing is that despite dealing with unbelievable fatigue and all the other goodies that come with a super low thyroid, I managed to finish a book this year.
So, I’m thinking I can accomplish three times that once they figure out which supplements are going to work on me. I’m used to being a highly energetic person who gets stuff done. I can easily whip out more manuscripts when I’m myself.
So what have I been doing lately? Kind of had a difficult schedule this week with work. Couldn’t make plans since I never knew when I was going in or not. The project was put off, so I worked on my manuscript, researched agents at www.agentquery.com and made lots of notes about who likes urban fantasy. I also read a couple of books.
JR Ward’s Dark Lover . I was surprised that I enjoyed it so much. At first, I didn’t think I’d keep reading after my introduction to the Brotherhood names. But I decided to just give it a chance for the fun. I’ll admit I skimmed through the villain’s POV here and there and well, there were a couple of other things that kind of made me raise my eyebrows. But Ward thoroughly built her world and I have to admit, she did a good job. Other readers talked about the slang and after the first few jarring episodes, it didn’t bother me–it fit into this world she created. The book is sexy and fun in a primal, sort of he-man way. I’m going to pick up the next one since it seems to be a reader favorite.
Jennifer Greene’s Blame It On Cupid. Talk about a complete turn around. While Ward gave me some yummy, dark angst, this book was full of warm, good natured fun. I’ve always liked Greene’s funky, loving heroines and I have to say the best part of this book was the relationship between the heroine and her eleven year-old ward. But the romance itself was also sexy and good. I found myself wanting a little more of their future in the end, but that happens a lot when I get really involved in the characters.
I want to set a writing goal for this week, but I’m waiting to see if my “paying job” schedule gets more solid. As soon as I know, I’ll be posting progress on BOAA. I may even try one of those progress bars again. I didn’t join NANO, but I’m feeling inspired by all the blogs encouraging each other this month. I’m rooting for you guys!
