There’s a reason I haven’t been sleeping well.
I’m going to share a quick story. I issued a challenge on this blog and had two winners. One gave me the Norse Gods at Starbucks challenge and one gave me this one.
“Write about someone finding a way to track down serial porn spammers and exacting revenge.”
Neither were into easy, were they???I didn’t know these Snark readers well, but wrote stories to both challenges. They are in the tabs above. Now They Run From Valen Greer, the porn spammer one, resulted in a critique partner.
Rachel Vincent and I work so well together. We’re both ambitious, competitive (In a good way!) and we love to write above everything else. It’s been a fantastic partnership. (Be sure to order ROGUE!)
Now, this relationship has helped me get an agent.
Needless to say, the OKRWA mini-con went well for me. <g>
The editor, Margo Lipschultz, showed interest and I really liked the agent we’d invited down. Yes, she’s Rachel’s agent, Miriam Kriss of the Irene Goodman Literary Agency. I sent Miriam an email on Sunday night telling her of the editor’s interest in my book. She requested the manuscript and took it home Monday night and made an offer on Tuesday.
I also had another agent interested this week due to another good friend of mine in the group (Gena!!!) and let me tell you, I agonized over this for two long, sleepless nights.
Both agents are in my top FIVE so I never expected interest from more than one.
I would have agonized more, but started to worry I’d never sleep again. In the end, I went with my gut. While I really, really liked both and either would be fantastic agents for me, I had met Miriam over the weekend and just had that feeling. Okay, and the fact that she loved Farscape certainly didn’t hurt.
And well, when she called, there was this certain response she had upon finishing Dweller on the Threshold…
This has been a whirlwind week of excitement with the most incredible validation. I want every one of you to feel this! Some of you have and some of you will! I’ll share what OKRWA member, Christine Rimmer, just said on our loop. “Keep the dream alive and keep moving toward it.”
So, I am announcing that I will soon be a happy client of Miriam Kriss from the Irene Goodman Literary Agency.
I’ll be sharing space with clients like Rachel Vincent, Vicki Pettersson, Keri Arthur, Karen Chance, Jenna Black, Lillith SaintCrow…
Okay. My daughter just came into my office and asked me to stop doing the cabbage patch. And she called me a dork.
I can see nothing is going to change much around here…
