So, do you have some strange ritual you have to perform before you can write? I’ve heard of writers who have to play a specific amount of Solitaire games before they start, writers who have to clean the whole house first, and writers who can’t type a word without their favorite beverage next to them.
Some of mine? A cup of something. Coffee, hot tea or Fuze Black & Green Tea. The latter is getting harder and harder to find, so it’ll probably go back to the first two. I also like to have the house straightened up first–at least in the areas I’ll see. I know, I need to dump this habit. And music. I have soundtracks for each book. I’m a geek.
Lately, I make sure I’m wearing a bracelet Heather Harper gave me to celebrate my signing with an agent last year. It’s the prettiest silver bangle with a swirl design. I believe the design is called Dreams. What’s funny is I wrote several finished books without the bracelet, but now, I hunt it down before I begin. And I have the absolute worst habit of setting things out of place. Hair scrunchies (Oh yeah? They’re still cool to me!), jewelry, IMPORTANT WIP NOTES. Found some of those yesterday.
So what’s your ritual?
And while you’re thinking about it, I have goodies for you to check out!
First up, an interview! Yeah, Of me! I feel all cooly important today… and flattered. Missy Frye was kind enough to be curious about me and posted an interview on her blog. Check it out. I made sure to get plenty of info into each answer. 😉
Don’t forget, the Deadline Dames website will be launching any day. We are going to share the trials and tribulations of writing in our genres! Who are we?
