So, do you have some strange ritual you have to perform before you can write? I’ve heard of writers who have to play a specific amount of Solitaire games before they start, writers who have to clean the whole house first, and writers who can’t type a word without their favorite beverage next to them.
Some of mine? A cup of something. Coffee, hot tea or Fuze Black & Green Tea. The latter is getting harder and harder to find, so it’ll probably go back to the first two. I also like to have the house straightened up first–at least in the areas I’ll see. I know, I need to dump this habit. And music. I have soundtracks for each book. I’m a geek.
Lately, I make sure I’m wearing a bracelet Heather Harper gave me to celebrate my signing with an agent last year. It’s the prettiest silver bangle with a swirl design. I believe the design is called Dreams. What’s funny is I wrote several finished books without the bracelet, but now, I hunt it down before I begin. And I have the absolute worst habit of setting things out of place. Hair scrunchies (Oh yeah? They’re still cool to me!), jewelry, IMPORTANT WIP NOTES. Found some of those yesterday.
