When I was two or three, my favorite song was Busy Bee. It’s a silly, silly song that makes me cringe now, but I was apparently into alliteration early.
Or busyness.
Nothing feels better than a period of solid accomplishment. I not only picked up some of my old contract work last week–which I completed–I also finished a short story, polished a bunch of difficult “after critique” chapters and helped my husband on a remodeling job. (The difficult chapters were all my fault, btw. Luckily, the lovely Rachel Vincent understands about writing under duress and is ready with her trusty magnifying glass. She. Rocks.)
In between, I managed to hang out at the Farmer’s Market with my oldest and cuddle with my youngest while we watched Back to the Future movies. I had a nice evening sitting outside with my husband and enjoyed a couple of glasses of red wine after a day of surprisingly good news. And last night, I cut into the perfect cantaloupe and made Greek Beans with the fresh green beans and tomatoes from the Farmer’s Market.
I am still job hunting and it’s still frustrating, but in the meantime, I’m picking up another week or two of contract work which came at the best possible time. I also plan to knock out the critiques of the short story and get that to the editor, then as much of my WIP as possible.
So, I’m feeling positive and hopeful for a little more good news. I’m sure I don’t have to spell that one out for all of you. <BG>
