The party at the Deadline Dames is such a blast! Our comment boxes are overflowing with excitement. It’s catching! I haven’t decided what my exclusive post will hold yet. But I will say, my prizes are cool. I wish, wish, wish I had books to give out, but that is something the universe is still working on for me. 🙂
You can comment every day-winners are announced over the weekend each week. Follow the Dame.
So what am I up to?
I’m working on my book, though I’m still not doing the official word count daily. I’m hitting a word count, just not my normal 3k per day. I have very, very good reasons–ones which will be shared when they can be. Yes, I’m in tease mode today.
But I’m desperately looking forward to the days when my biggest worry is how the next scene will play out. You see, I’m also in tense mode. I’m naturally tense always, to a certain degree. That’s a good thing because it keeps me on my toes and driven to complete books. But when that tension is as highly elevated as it has been lately, shutting the mind down becomes nearly impossible.
I need to sleep!
Take last night, for instance.
The hubby had to get up early, so we both turned in about 10:30. He was snoring within seconds–I get so jealous of that sometimes!– and I was revved up like someone had overwound the spring on my back. I got up at 11:30 and curled up with a blanket and laptop in my office. I slid on earphones, turned music up loud and wrote. Two hours later, I realized it was 1:30 and the hubby’s alarm would be going off at 4. Agh!
Unfortunately, the power shut down sometime in the night and we all overslept. If you’re thinking “Yay, she got more sleep than expected!” don’t. We were all grouchy and even more tense this morning.
So now, everyone is gone and I’m faced with another day of writing-that part is good. But there’s also the silence. And the hoping. And that crazy tension of late.
Maybe I’ll go clean the attic or something…
UPDATE: You guys are sweet. Thanks for the emails & DMs. No worrying! I’m actually great! Some of this tension is happy tension–some is book related and some of it is ongoing, personal crud. As I’ve shared, the economy has been a bit rough on my family-but we’re working things out. I just have a few things balancing right now and okay, okay, I’m a bit impatient. <G>
And you’ll be happy to hear, the tension is down. Wanted to say thanks to some of the readers of the Deadline Dames who have loved the small excerpts I’ve shared and have emailed. I’m so glad you want more Raven and Vanir! But I think the word “upcoming” was used somewhere and that has confused a few people who have been looking for the publication date of the books. While this thrills me to pieces, I have to say there isn’t one at this time. But I’m jazzed there’s interest in my Wyrd Sisters Trilogy. You guys rock. 🙂
