First the desktop computer started rebooting every two minutes. (Actually, this part was months ago.) I hurriedly copied all music, pics and documents onto an external drive the hubby uses for work. He recently had to turn that drive in, so I copied all the files to my laptop. After all, it had recently crashed and I’d done a full “from box” recovery, so it was safe, right?
No!!!! The laptop crashed again. I had to do a full recovery. Again. Start from freaking scratch. (Luckily, I am a FANATIC about backing up writing files in several places. All that hard work is important!)
So, this weekend, I worked on my computer and then, I broke down and bought a 500 GB external drive that does automatic backups. I turned on the desktop in safe mode and backed up as many files as I could.
I have a lot of old, crappy writing. But I want it. You never know when that old crappy idea can gel into something cool, right? But it was the Itunes that was such a pain! Like 30 GB of music, shows and movies! And all the family pics since everything is digital now.
But all my weekend hasn’t been about dealing with problems. I had lunch with my awesome friends. We’ve been meeting for more than ten years. I love them! One brought me a huge 11X14 pic of me taken during the photo shoot. Yes, the Kathryn Moad from Kathryn Moad Photography. Here’s her fav from our session.
One of the others came and brought me a birthday copy of her new book of short, horror fiction. Ack! Her website won’t let me share the cover, so follow this link and take a look!

I had such a good time with them. We had fattening food at Chili’s and then browsed Barnes and Noble (I bought Silver Borne by Patricia Briggs, Perfect Chemistry by Simone Elkeles and Beautiful Creatures by Kami Garcia) before having coffee. Nothing beats a day with friends who share your love of books. 🙂
