Well, my output is still good.
For me.
I’m not hitting my 2500 word a day goal at this point, but so far, I’m averaging two chapters a week which is good.
For me.
Actually, that’s a kick ass output if I were going on regular standards. Two chapters a week would translate into what? Two, three months on a book length roughdraft? But, I still have that monster deadline, so I’m going to have to get my butt in gear and work harder. We’re about to get hit with an ice storm so I’ll have no excuses. Lots of time to work. (Yeah, in La La Land where kiddies don’t get restless inside for three days. Maybe I should run out and get a padlock for my office today.)
Yesterday, I spent necessary time catching up my critique work and since Rachel has a proposal due, I stopped to give it a last read. Man, I had a good time. You are all in for a treat with this writer. I can’t talk about it and I wouldn’t want to, but I can tease because… well, I like to. It’s good.
For me.
Actually critique work is good for me. It helps me to see the flow of another’s work. It shows me what’s missing in my own work. It certainly gives me that crucial kick in the backside– in several ways.
One: it feels good to have something to offer another writer. Makes you feel useful. (Let’s be honest. Rejections can make you feel anything but, right?)
Two: being a part of the creation of a good story is inspiring. I’m always revved up to go back to my own work.
Three: okay, jeez, I’ll admit… I’m hideously competitive and this cp’s output is something else. This is a good thing.
For me. (heh heh)
I still have a few chapters of hers left, but I’m going to hit my word goal before I get to them, despite the temptation of “needing” to know what happens next. Damn you, Rach.
Oh, and I still have some of the “hot” stuff to read from Dana, as well. Which is really good.
For me. (Okay and yeah, maybe the husband…)
But, today is also one of those important ‘mommy days’ where the kids have things like karate and well, they have to be fed… and loved on and you know… all that mommy stuff.
So, don’t forget, you have a couple of weeks to write me a smashing piece off that picture below. There is some seriously cool writing already flowing in. It’ll be posted here for all to see along with a link to your website when the next Scene From a Pic goes up. (Curious souls can scroll through past Scenes from a Pic to the right. Go back a ways–when I was posting the more intriguing pics. Everyone makes a bad choice occasionally–so what?)
Oh, and the best part? I’ll actually shut up for a few days to leave them all up longer here at the top. You get to write. You get a link to pick up readers. Not a bad deal, eh? And I get to read the very different ideas that come from one image. Which is good.
For me.
