Why the heck are we arguing over what to say this holiday season?????
If you want to say Merry Christmas, go ahead. I love Christmas. I have a Christmas tree in my home. But also, don’t pick on people who prefer Happy Holidays. Truthfully, I prefer that one because for me, this season is about everyone coming together in peace.
Happy Holidays doesn’t leave anyone out. It’s meant for everyone!
It pissed me off that groups picked on companies for wanting to use Happy Holidays in their commercials. Leave them alone! That wish has been around a long, long time and no one is trying to push out Christmas, they’re just trying to include everyone.
This is a freaking holiday season… not only Christmas, but Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Winter Solstice and oh yeah, NEW YEARS.
Say Merry Christmas if you want.
Say Happy Holidays if you want.
Say Poo.
I don’t care! Just stop picking on each other and stop telling people how to word their good wishes. Your idea of what’s right is just that. Yours. It might not be someone else’s.
This world is a diverse place full of different people, different religions, different walks of life. Man, can you just imagine what it would be like if everyone just accepted that? Not tolerated it, but accepted?
Think about it. I do. All the time.
To show I’m not a complete humbug here, I’m going to share two lovely bands for you today.
The Autumns. theAutumns.com Click on the music tab and the self titled album for 30 second tracks. Wonderful!
The Decemberists The Decemberists :: Discography I personally love their debut LP, Castoways and Cutouts. Click on the cover to hear clips. Picaresque is good, too. In fact, song 2, We Both Go Down Together, reminds me of early REM.
Enjoy!
