Today, I’m all over the place. Just one of those days when there’s a lot going on and the mind is jumping.
And speaking of jumping, life is all about “jumping” obstacles, especially in writing. Problem is, with a lot of writers the biggest ones are themselves. See me raising hand.
So, I say hold your chin up and jump. What are we afraid of really?
I’m lucky to have many friends who have made this leap successfully.
My good friend, Lyn Cash Lyn’s Licks & Laughs has a blog you should check out. She uses wonderful photos like the one above and has some incredibly insightful columns on being a writer. Look back over them if you get the time. She also, naughty girl, morphed myself and best bud, Christy, into one character in her new book, Star Struck from Liquid Silver Books. I’m making Christy read it first. (grin)
Speaking of afraid, I mentioned a little fear I had on Saturday while having lunch with friends and one admonished me– sweetly, of course, because even though she likes to act the tuff bitch, she really can be a sweetie. So, I’m jumping in with all her friends to promote her new book! I haven’t read it yet, but I’m REALLY looking forward to it. Her blog is here. Gena Showalter’s Weblog Don’t miss Beefcake Monday. In fact, I have one to share today…
Here’s her new book!
Jewel of Atlantis is shipping from Barnes and Noble.com and will start shipping from Amazon any day.
Enter a mythical world populated with vampires, dragons, demons and Nymphs. . . enter a world of dark seduction and powerful magic. . . enter Atlantis….All of Atlantis seeks the Jewel of Dunamis, which legend claims can overcome any enemy. Gray James, human agent of the ultra-secret Otherworld Bureau of Investigation, has orders to keep it from the wrong hands – or destroy it. What he doesn’t know is that Jewel is a woman, not a stone. But once he meets this precious gem, destroying her is the last thing on his mind. . .
Part goddess, part prophet, Jewel is a pawn in Atlantis’s constant power struggles. She needs Gray’s help to win freedom and uncover the secrets of her mysterious origins. Gray needs her wisdom to navigate monster-ridden Atlantis. But need blossoms into passionate love as they fight demons, dragons, vampires – and a prophecy that says the bond between them could destroy them both.
Kelli at Kelli Blogs cracks me up. Just look at this!
This was done to torment our good friend, Betty Sanders. I laugh every time I see it. Kelli gives great movie reviews, shares favorite guilty pleasure movies and tortures her friends with Photshop. She has turned Gena Showalter, Jill Monroe, PC Cast and myself into fembots. I’m the jaundiced one… but I WISH THAT WAS MY BODY!
And speaking of Betty Sanders… She’s my conversation buddy. We have the most wonderful, insightful conversations through email. She’s a lovely person who shares a lot in common with me… She has several blogs. One is a writer’s research dream. I’m serious, check it out. Betty Sanders. One has some EXCELLENT insights into the similarities of different religions. The Journey of a 1000 Miles And one is for goofing off with us. (grin) Dishin’ the Dirt with my Friends
Jill has a wicked sense of humor. Jill Monroe’s Blog I was reading her book, Never Naughty Enough, and nearly drowned in the bathtub laughing at this one scene… She has a new book coming out soon — check out the HOT cover on her blog. And her creepy Friday thing is getting very interesting…
Another good friend’s blog. Books, self-centered musings, and chocolatinis! Ammanda McCabe is intelligent, quietly witty and a wonderful writer. I especially love her old family photos on this blog. And I love our lunches with Kelli, though we are all three too freaking busy!
And I’m starting to get to know a new friend, Dana Pollard. Diary of an aspiring romance writer Her blog is fun– she updates fast and she, I’m learning… is a bundle of interesting contradictions. (grin) In fact, I’d like to apologize Dana for my comment on “you know who” last Saturday. The more I think about it, the more I’m remembering that the person who told me that was crabby herself. Here, this is for you.
Damn, it’s small. THE PICTURE, I MEAN! This was my absolute favorite photo in his 1996 calendar. You know, I did see a signed copy for sale somewhere on the net… Someone find me that picture again!
I have to go before I’m finished. My fourteen year old just called for me to come get her at school. Gotta go! Have fun exploring!
