I answered an email question about critique groups and beta readers over there today.

Busy Yet Fun Few Days & Stuff
So, in the last few days, I’ve written 5k on one of my novellas, critiqued most of a 100k novel for my critique partner, Rachel Vincent, and hosted a last minute NY’s Eve thing at my house with my sisters and their families as guests. We programmed an 80s music station into Pandora and sang so loudly, I’m sure my neighbors are convinced I’m crazy. (I know they were worried before…) We made way too much food and a huge mess, but it was fun.
And before anyone asks how I could critique that much work that fast, I’m not doing a line by line. She had a pretty tight deadline, so I’m reading for major things that jump out at me and giving her my impressions and predictions and just generally telling her how much I LOVE it. Cuz I do. It’s seriously cool. I know a lot of readers here are Vincent fans, so I’ll share this. You’re in for a treat with her new adult UF series. 🙂
Remember, that I extended the Readers on Deadline challenge at the Deadline Dames. You still have a week from Sunday to write to the gorgeous image and possibly win two exciting young adult books! These are Dame January releases and from the reviews coming in, already excited readers out there. I couldn’t be more happy for my fellow Dames!

I may be a little scarce on the blog. Or I might not be. LOL! It will depend on how fast I churn out my WIP. My agent has said the sooner the better on my new young adult manuscript, so I’m hoping to kick up my time line.
I’m wrapping up the final showdown and love stuff on draft one but I’ll have some wicked rewrite setting stuff to research and thread in. You now, the fun Stuff! 😉
Killer Last Week & Updates
Ack! Only one post last week. My apologies. Had a killer week with a lot of unexpected family and friend things happening. In fact, I was so busy, the house is out-of-order (Pretty sure the laundry is planning a takeover and I lost the surface of my desk…) and the writing has built to an uncomfortable back up in the brain. It might be quiet here a few more days while I catch up.
You’ll notice the new pirate banner I made in my sidebar. E-pirating is a huge problem for our industry. It’s truly hurting the publishing world and especially the authors who write these books people love to read. If you click on the pirate, it takes you to a fantastic article by Jeaniene Frost that explains why.
Oh! And do check out the Deadline Dames website while I’m gone. We were aware of super slow load times and email and update issues, so we hired a wonderful Web Dame. She designed us a fresh, new, wicked-cool look and will be going through and updating all our pages. Follow the boots in the sidebar to see.
I do want to send out some love to my sisters. We’re so busy, we hardly see each other and that needs to change. I very dear friend of mine lost her sister last week and my heart hurts for her. I’ll be with her today.
Take the time out this week to hug someone you love. 🙂
Snippets at the Deadline Dames
The Dames are sharing snippets of upcoming books over the next couple of weeks. Even though I said no more Foretold snippets, I don’t want to share more of my current works in progress at this point, so you guys get another sneak peek! It’s my day, so come let me know if you enjoy it. Follow the Dame! 🙂

Miss Me?
LOL! Like I’ve been gone. I am in deep rewrite mode. I’ve immersed (Yeah, I had the wrong spelling here. Do you have buzz words that trip you up? This is one of mine. <g>) myself so far into my Norse young adult world, I’m having a blast. It’s work, don’t get me wrong. I get frustrated at trying to get something across, but with effort, patience and an open mind…things are clicking like mad. The book… well, I’ll just say I like it even more now.
I just stopped by to remind you that my Readers on Deadline post is up at the Dames’. Dame Devon’s book of short fiction, A CUP OF NORMAL, is up for the winner. LOVE the image we have up for this contest.
Also, a copy of KISS ME DEADLY with stories from both Dame Rachel and Dame Kaz, is up for grabs in the post right below mine. WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR? GO FORTH AND WIN!
Pictures!
My Day at the Dames
It’s my day for the monthly Readers on Deadline post at The Deadline Dames. You have to check out the gorgeous image! I would have shared about this talented photographer earlier, but wanted today’s image to be a surprise. She could so easily do book covers and in fact, I hope she captures someone’s notice in that respect. 🙂
Follow the Dame to see! And check out the rest of Michelle Monique’s work while you’re there.
Fun Convention Pics
I slapped up some photos from the Romantic Times Convention and a couple of sad faces, moi included, from those Dames who couldn’t go this year. The pic of Kaz cracks me up! Follow the Dame to see!
Psst-there are rumors of the T-shirt I’m wearing being available at RT. It’s just a rumor, so who knows?
